Choosing a Limousine Service for Prom Night
Many parents book limousines for their children on prom
night to ensure their safety as well as protect them from drinking and
driving. A limo is also a nice treat for most people. Of course, if the
parents are responsible for the limo reservation, they will ask a
different set of questions than their children but everyone should look
out for the same general aspects when choosing
limousine services for
prom night.
Prom nights have become very expensive. Some of the costs involved are
formal dresses, rented tuxes, corsages, boutonnières, prom tickets, and
refreshments. Adding to these costs is the transportation so it is
usually a good idea to involve as many people as possible in paying for
the limousine so that everyone can keep within his/her budget. In cities
were prom nights are prevalent, limo companies offer special packages
which might work best when trying to keep the limo service as
inexpensive as possible.
Although the limo will only be rented for one night, it is still
important to think about what is required. Girls in their fancy gowns
will have a difficult time entering and disembarking the vehicle so try
to find models with doors that make this process easier. In addition,
once the young people are inside, is there room for everyone to fit
reasonably comfortable or are they sitting on each other's laps? Again,
the female dresses are quite expensive and they have spent a lot of time
getting ready for this night so they need to take care of their attire
and appearance.
Booking early is the key to hiring the car of your choice. In smaller
cities, the selection will be small and many will miss their chance to
reserve a hired car. Remember that the whole class is attending the prom
and there may be other schools that have their function the same night
so companies will be swamped. Limo fans
better be quick!
Parents should also ask about underage drinking. Will the bar in the
limo be open? Will the young people be permitted to enter the vehicle
with alcohol? Although the driver is not a police officer, the parents
and young people should understand the rules in advance to avoid any
confrontation.
Other important issues when choosing a limousine for hire:
• Ask to see the safety record of the drivers and the insurance on the
vehicles.
• Look over the vehicles for signs of wear and tear or dirty contents.
• Is smoking permitted inside the vehicle?
• What happens if the young people do not come out at the prearranged
time? Does the driver leave? Are there extra charges for waiting?
• Are there any costs for damage or other things that might happen from
unruly riders?
• If the riders decide to go for something to eat after the prom, but
this was not discussed, are there added charges?
Lastly, be sure that the contract includes the specified time the car is
required, where the driver is expected to go, and details about
surcharges.
